The Exodus Begins...

Working at the Grand in Gulfport, my office overlooks the shrimp boat harbor just behind our casino (tough job, but somebody's gotta do it!). At this moment, some of the boats are just fueling up and waiting, but many more have already decided to move on and are heading up the river to more protected areas. This is known as the Annual Exodus - oftentimes repeated again and again in a given season. Typically, it's the phrase "hurricane watch" that gets 'em motivated - even if they may be jumping the gun a bit.

Hmmm.. Guess I'm gonna head home I-10 instead of 90 through Bay St. Louis, cause I imagine the Bay bridge will be busy..

Tooted. I needed to go to the Sam's in Gulfport this afternoon for some non-storm-related stuff, but if everybody and their mama is going to be there fighting over water, eggs and the like I'd just as soon not be caught in the fray. Wonder if it would be less spastic over in Slidell.

Yep I remember those exodus days from being stationed at Keesler AFB in the late 70s.

I was at Lowes and Home Depot in Gulfport this morning and the crowds were very small.... heck, most people were unaware there was a storm in the GOM.... all that will change after work today and tomorrow....
