Just curious, what if it falls apart before it hits land?

Have fun chasing!

Well... since about all it would do is rain most likely, I can "chase" from my yard.

Mobile is my hometown. I was actually heading their this week end for a family reunion, but chasing storms is much more fun.

Seems like most of the storms wind up chasing me. Come on over - the party will be at my house!

I'm hoping for something here, but we will likely get nothing.
Even with Ivan, the worst winds were 46MPH from the North.

Come on down Mark! Right now we are the bulls eye, but we both know this is not where it's going to hit. This time of year the tendency is for these things to go to the right of the forecasted track.Gulfport is a good central location to observe and spring into action from.

It seems like Ivan was just yesterday. If this storm has to come to Mobile I hope I can at least get a new roof out of it this time. With Ivan all I did was pay a bundle for tree removal ---

I'm going chasing, but not the tropical cyclone :D . I'm going to be roaming the plains, probably starting Friday in the TX/OK panhandles, looking for tornadoes, that have so far eluded me this pathetic excuse of a severe weather season (I saw 15+ last year, and not a one this year so far).

Ha, looks like this storm will be chasing me! I chased the Moore tornado in 2003. Much wilder chasing a tornado than a hurricane.....MGC

Yeah I live on the front beach in Biloxi..... and hopefully I don't have very far to go to chase this one..... a couple of 50K feeder bands coming off the GOM pounding my house would be fun... but nothing more than that... I just hope I don't have to put up 15 sheets of plywood for this thing.... hopefully it will go off to the east and I won't have to bother with them

Your also much less likely to survive a tornado... especially an F5! and especially in anywhere but underground.

I was on that storm too. The initial tornado touched down in a field less than 100 yards from us. We then tried to catch up with the storm, but got bogged down in traffic, due to the power being out in Moore. The visibility was terrible that day due to smoke from fires in Mexico and haze. We thus never actually saw the Moore F4 although we were only a few miles from it.
