In TD 1 right now

#1 Postby Scorpion » Wed Jun 08, 2005 4:15 pm

Im on a cruise and we just went through TD 1. I just found out now this was a TD. I was outside in it a few hours ago and the winds were howling to at least 40-50 mph. It was very squally. Now we're heading out of it but wow it was quite an experience.

Yes things have calmed down some but before it was incredible could barely keep my footing the wind was so strong. This spoils my cruise vacation though :grr: .

If the winds are 40 to 50 mph gusting where your at this is a strong tropical depression.

22 mph wind ship moving 18-20 knots = 40-50 mph wind
Just a guess

Recon is not a perfect sample. Squalls can produce much stronger winds as well.

Wow! I bet that's making for an interesting evening on your cruise. We ran into a bad thunderstorm as we were leaving Cozumel on our cruise last fall and folks were dropping like flies! We had trouble walking down the corridor to get to the casino!! :double:
I can't imagine how those winds (and the accompanying seas) would be.
Thanks for keeping us posted and hope things get better on your cruise, soon!
