Irene?
The Past 2 years we have seen the "I" Named systems become Category 5 Hurricanes (Isabel, Ivan) and with the time period the I named storm comes in (Usually around the best time of the year for strong canes to form) Plus the Above Average SST's we have going at the moment...Do you believe that its possible Irene could be a Cat 5?

Speaking of Isabel wasnt it spectacular to see those mini vortex's in the eye when it was at or near peak strength. I think those are really cool..
Now Back on the Irene Topic...
You are correct though, Irene just doesnt sound as sinister as Ivan.

Ivan was the name of concern before the season even started.
Remember the Czar Ivan the Terrible of Russia?

Yes, we had to study about Russia in World History this year, lol. It was a terrible storm was it not. Especially with the loop it did.

RETIRED:
Iris, Isidore, Isabel, Ivan
I wonder if we are in a F name cycle now?
Fabian, Frances...FRANKLIN?
Although personally, I think an E name cycle will begin. But it's all interesting guessing.
Yep you are correct, it really is all a guessing game as we dont know how the weather situation will be in the coming month with possible wind shear, sea surface temperatures, etc. But I guess we could look from the way things now and take atleast a slight guess onto what the future may hold.

Poor Franklin, then it will be his first and last time used. Like Michelle in 2001 which replaced Marylin in 1995, now in 2007 it will be Melissa.

2 Ivan the Terrible's in history, before the hurricane
the first was the Czar, the second was the alleged Treblinka Ukranian Guard (someone was Ivan, though there is uncertainty regarding which Ivan it is). After 2004, Ivan the terrible (which makes no sense as it was pronounced EE-Van, as it was a spanish name... only pronounced Ivan by the American media who wanted to bill the cane as Ivan the Terrible, the 3rd rendition)

Actually Isidore was a Cat 3. 110 kt or 125 mph was it's peak. Had it not went into the Yucatan, it would have been a 4.
