Most of the time, they get rain and winds from waves. The systems
are typically a few hundred miles West of the Cape Verde Islands and
moving West when they become significant.

An other reason for my satisfaction with these new buoys,is the fact that,in the past, the first "buoys"for people of the carribean and of course the States, was our islands;in fact, the first ground data from a tropical cyclone was recorded in our islands of the extreme east Antillies chain!!!
Now,i'am not alone, because i know that there are 4 islands east of me...LOL...(in fact the buoy 41101 is out for now).
The most eastern" island" buoy could be call"Atlantide";what names are you think for the other? Oh yes,the one east of Guadeloupe,a french one could be named "liberty"??LOL?LOL
The others

Mike those new bouys in the location in terms of latitud and longitud are in a perfect posicion to send data about those disturbances, strong tropical waves,TD'S,Tropical Storms and hurricanes that will move thru or close to those bouys. And your page keeps growing on information and truely these new bouys will add bigtime on that.
