What's going on with the Miami radar?

It's been down since about 6pm last night, and it's been down sporadically for the last week for a few hours here and there.

Are they doing some kind of maintenance on it? I sure hope it's not going to be doing this all summer. :-/

I was wondering the same thing,I'm having to use Key West to keep track of this rain.

Last year at this same time the Miami radar was down for the better part of a month.

There is another radar in Miami that is not owned by NWS but I think a university down there--I cant find it but it looks a lot different than NWS radar. Anyway, here are some broad links to s-fla radar in general and loopable...

They certainly do seem to have alot of down time with that radar.. Often with weather in the area and of course it's rather annoying during the hurricane season..storm or not..never know when it's going to be back online.

They had to beg, borrow, and hopefully not steal last year. The mobil unit they brought in didn't work either!
