Wave Moving in Tandem
If a wave is moving in tandem with an ULL and it maintains a safe distance of 200 miles then it could or will form a upper high over the wave? Thoughts welcome slams not.

i believe that what the discussion is implying is that the ULL is currently causing prohibitive southwesterly shear in the vicinity of the wave axis. if they move in tandem, ie, no increase in separation, the shear will continue to impinge on the wave as it moves west thru the caribbean. that shear will likely prevent any further organization of the convection associated with the wave. in order for the wave to have to a chance the ULL would have to either move more rapidly than the wave or in a different direction. then, perhaps some upper level ridging could build in. hope that shed some light on it..............rich
