It's part of the same system. IF it sits in the Gulf long enough it could develop(Danny in 1997 formed from a rain mass that moved south into the Gulf and sat for a couple of days)

Yeah, sometimes a piece like that will get left behind when a trough lifts out. I don't see that happening here, though. That little dip in the southern branch of the jet isn't going anywhere over the next couple of days, so I figure that blob will swing around and head northeast across Florida just like the mess we're seeing today.
