Hey David, not bad out here at all. Kinda cloudy over here though. I'll sit on the porch swing and keep you company for a bit. The iced tea sure hits the spot on this warm day. Before long, it will be hard to sit out here without taking a dip in the pool every once in a while. :)

Hot and humid here; T-storms expected tomorrow (so much for the church's "yard sale"), and even Annabelle (she BE a ho'!) doesn't LIKE going 'side when it's humid ("You want me to go out in THAT? YOU go out there!").

I'll take an ice tea with lemon please Kelly and sit and rock for a while in this nice over-sized rocker, while watching out for the cats tail..........hope he doesn't cross my path today since its Friday the 13th!

The little breeze feels good, but the humidity is up up up and wow the smell of those magnolias blooming....got my sinuses going.

Well, I have good news and bad news......

Good News... GRADUATION Saturday afternoon !!!!!!! (May 14th) yay! 4 years at UWGB (also 1 semester at Wis-Mil and one at Basic)

Bad News... the Pentagon is considering the 440th Airlift Wing for closure..... that IS my base... and I'm not a happy camper. When ever W comes to MKE he flies into the 440th...we store all his motorcade vehicles and Marine 1 sits on OUR flight line. Not the 128th (across the runway)... but US the 440th! The 440th pulls people from at least 6 states (Wis, Upper MI, MN, IL, IN, OH...possibly IA) and their could be more states! Chicago AND KI Sawyer field in Marquette were both realigned to Mitchell (440th).... If 440th does close 200 civilian and full time and 1400 part time people would have to move and realign. (Currently approx 250 are deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan) From what I understand, Wis and Upper MI along with MN people (and some IA people) would have to align to Minneapolis ARS and the IL, (other IA) and others south of our border would have to go to St. Louis ARS or Scott AFB or Wright Patt in OH. Either way it does not sound like we are going to be airlifted to 440th like we are now. We are NOT reimbursed for mileage to and from MKE at all (except for annual 2 week tours)...from Appleton, minneapolis is approximate 5 hours away. That isn't what really ticks me off.... We are the FIRST base in the nation to get Smart Gate (its like the IPass (IL) toll gates)... drive through without checking ID's.... check vehicle license and stickers. The FIRST Base! (they are installing that right now) and the military is offering MORE MONEY to new recruits... We are tight on money right now... so why offer more money to recruits when bases are closing! That is stupid people! If you can't meet your recruiting goals... then talk to W and get us OUT of Iraq! People are not signing up because they don't want to go to war... its just like the troubles when we were in Vietnam. The Pentagon is talking about starting the draft over again. Army and Marines want it... Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard do not. Because all of the people with go to the Marines or Army.

Sorry, I'm not in a good mood.

Hi everyone! I just noticed we had moved out onto the front porch.

My first year of teaching is over as of yesterday. It was a great first year! We shall see what year two brings very soon!

Hope everyone is doing all right.

I wouldn't have wanted to be sitting on the front porch late last night. Wow... the lightning show was incredible. It knocked out our power for a while last night (although I have to admit... our power has not been the same since the tornado in 2003).

A nice cool morning... think I will bring out some lemonade for the front porch for everyone who stops by... especially for our friends in the Southwest!

Howdy Porchers!!! Well we are getting ready to say goodbye to our German exchange student next week. He's been with us since January, and it has gone by in a blink. I feel like I'm having to say goodbye to my own child. :( But he's going to come back and visit us next summer, and next semester we're going to take in his 16 year old adorable red-headed sister. For some reason, my 15 year old son had absolutely no objection.

Shannon - Congrats on the new house!!! Have fun unpacking. I think I would rather have a root canal. :wall: But we've had 2 long distance moves in the last 4 years, with another one looming in our near future. Nothing certain yet, but probably before the end of the year. Blech! Not that I'm attached to bottom of Indiana ... just not looking forward to all the work, getting the house ready to sell, and moving 2 teenagers who are already hormonally challenged.

Garrett - (((HUGS))) I've missed you! I saw those storms heading your way last night on radar. So glad your first year of teaching went well. :D

Well, gotta run to the store and get fixings to make 25 tacos for Hillary's Spanish class this afternoon. Only 4 more days of school. Yippee! :jump:

Have a great week! Love to all!

Unless the fans are running full force on the porch I'm staying inside, even with Garrett's lemonade available!! We've been up around 100 here in Houston the last few days too without much relief in sight. May get into the mid 90's ina few days.

wow! didn't the year go by fast Mr. wonderful teacher!! Seems like just yesterday we were praying you would get the job.

Furry, sorry, but I don't do unpacking anymore!! Hope you guys enjoy the new house as much as it sounds like you are!!! You still need to come to the Houston area and visit even though you've cancelle dyour cruise.

Laters all!! Hope your week is cooler than ours!

Donna..you'd rather have a root canal..lol how funny! Its amazing how well we are living with just a few neccesary boxes unpacked...that means that the other 1035 boxes stacked to the ceiling in my 3 car garage are useless...right? lol I like living this way...if its not unpacked and accessible..I just rebuy it! :) I think I'll just torch all the other boxes full of STUFF and then sit back and enjoy the view and the breeze...hee hee

Now David, I'd never ask you to unpack or move heavy furniture! I'd just invite you to sit down and relax with me with a tall glass of fresh squeezes lemonade...while everyone else does the unpacking and moving! hee heePeople of leisure love company!!!!!!!!!!!

well I made through graduation.... and I'm still HERE! As of right now, it looks like I'm not going to be deployed (but I can't guarantee it.) I am now an alum of UWGB... off to Western Illinois....starting on August 22nd. :D :D :D

My supervisors want to send me to hazardous material school in the end of June.... oh fun... late june, early july in coastal virginia... that is heaven! Charleston would be better though. oh well, beggars can't be choosers.

Congrats to those who had their children graduation... it is an awesome feeling.
