lol - we used to have a joke when Nash was "semi-retired"! We would say "you knew it was gonna be bad when they dusted off Nash and brought him out before the cameras!!! Lord, but Nash was good, wasn't he?!

Yeah I remember that. He opened a phone line at the station for people to call in and ask questions about the hurricane, and people were calling the line telling him to put the baseball game back on. That was some funny stuff.

I like Bob Breck. I enjoy his approach to broadcast meteorology. He makes it fun. He even laughs at himself when he busts. David Benard is a good met and will serve the Mia area well. I do miss Nash and his old way of drawing the weather maps. I got to meet his brother Ep Roberts when he was doing the morning weather for channel 6 back in the early 70s......MGC

I personally would rather read posts by wxman57...last year on Ivan,he called it almost to the tee when everyone else was screaming doomsday. Seen him take some fire here and on another forum but the guy doesnt pop off half corked and is honest.

I really enjoy Bob Breck. I don't remember which storm it was a couple years ago..maybe Isisdore???...but, he gave out his personal office number over the air for residents with concerns. He emphasized that he only wanted IMPORTANT phone calls. Well, you all know what happens when you give out your phone number on the air...especially when you're a met, and a hurricane is bearing down. Everyone and their brother started calling Bob's phone. He literally "fussed" the audience on live television. Despite the seriousness of an approaching storm, he really made me laugh. I always enjoyed Bob and I look forward to his forecasts this season.

I have also met Bob at the Lakeway Office Buildings at Causeway and the Lake. I met him in the parking garage. He chatted with me like I was family. He's a real nice guy who loves New Orleans and the residents of SE La.

Breck is just a great guy.

He had me in tears one time, 2002 I think, it was drought like then too,
a line of storms was moving out of southwest MS (Natchez to McComb)
due South to Louisiana, but rights as the line approached Louisiana,
it dissapated.

Breck made his had in the shape of a Pac Man and said

"These storms tried to come in and give us some relief, but as soon as
they got to the state line, its like a Pac Man came along and ate them up"
he moved is hand like a pac man along the storms as they dissapated.

I like John Gumm but he gets a little excited. I remember I was at my camp in Cut Off and I was fishing at fourchon. My wife was back at the camp and she watched the news on WWL and got scared. A storm was entering the gulf around the yucatan and she got caught up in the hype and was ready to leave right then. LOL
All in all i really like the coverage that WWL provides.

Like I said in an earlier post, I like Breck when it comes to the tropics. I like WWL for it's "over all" news coverage, but then I think WDSU does best when it comes for "local, downhome" coverage...especially away from the city. We have a pretty good choice in NOLA for news. I've been all over the country and I think our choices are great. I was surprised about the coverage in New York. Being the largest city and with everything that happens there, I would think their news would be outstanding, but it wasn't. It was almost like they were reading their scripts straight from the internet.
