Just a friendly reminder to those of you who are baking in the hot temps along the coast to check on your elderly family and neighbors!

That's so true - also get plenty of water and seek out air-conditioning. Also, don't forget about our animal friends. They need a break from the heat as well along with plenty of water. Goodness, the hypnotizing hum of airconditioners!!

N.O.'s Audubon Park is consistently among the hottest reporting stations in the region anytime we endure a heat wave.

That old reggae chestnut by Third World keeps running through my head:

"Nine-ty Six De-grees / In da sha-a-a-de! / Real hot! / In da sha-a-a-de!"

Those SST's are gonna rise fast at this rate.

Was at Dauphin Island on Saturday (5/21) and the water at the shoreline was already as warm as it usually takes it to get in early August!!

In the summertime, it is always hotter in downtown Pensacola. My Dad called to check the weather yesterday and they said it was 105 degrees in downtown Pensacola yesterday! The official site is at the airport though.

Being a animal lover, I got quite upset yesterday. Somebody left a chocolate Lab in a cage in the bed of his truck. While he worked out at the gym. His water bowl was empty and temps were in the 90's yesterday with clear skies.

That's just wrong. No need to leave the dog in the truck, especially without water in this heat!
