Hourly forecasts for the next 15 days

#1 Postby mitchell » Mon May 23, 2005 9:02 am

I don't want to start any bashing of Accuweather but I have this question: What possible point would there be to forecast HOURLY wind speed, direction, relative humidity, Probability of precip, TEMP, cloud cover etc. for every zip code in the country out 15 days? Seriously, if its represents a serious attempt at a forecast isn't the likelyhood of success just too low...Or is it just putting out the model data with the recognition that much of the output is meaningless in an attempt to be "unfiltered" and let the consumer take from it what they will...i mean they show HOURLY wind shifts on day 15. Just curious where the state of the thinking is.

Incidentally, i posted this in the tropical section because I find these hourly 15 day forecasts most "interesting" when tropical systems are involved.
