vb - that's a good point. It's drought like here for sure, but we won't
have an official declaration until it's way too late and some moron starts
a forest fire with a cigarette, fireworks, etc.

What I find interesting and also scary at the same time is that basically the same conditions existed in 1969, which I believe is one of the better analog years for this year(feel free to correct me Don or others). This includes the very high rain amounts that have occurred in S AL, NW FL this spring. Basically, and I think someone posted to that in another thread on this site, the conditions are very similar all over the South when compared with 1969. Just an observation, which gives us something to think about.

Same here in southeast Louisiana. I think our meterologist on the New Orleans news said it is our second driest May ever. I don't think we got a good rain in at least 3 weeks. And we been reaching the 90's for the last couple of days.

In the recent "dry" years, we've had Allison, Isidore, Lili, and Bill all
come by for a visit.

Well, not the case here--severe T-storms several days. Warm and dry one day, T-storms the next.

Though I would say that it has not been bone dry in parts of South Fla this May,the Keys sure have been.

In Key West they have only recieved .51 inches of rain & in Macrathon just .04!

Temps been up in the mid to high 90's. Yesterday, Lafayette reported 100 degrees at one of the tv stations. Hot and dry - looking for cactus to sprout and tumbleweeds to roll by next!

I agree with you J, it has become VERY humid now. I love seeing the return of the dark clouds in the afternoons here. Looks like the season has officially begun.
