"Hunker down" LOL (I have that custom t-shirt too  )

What stuck with me most last year was the play-by-play wobbles which was mentioned here in a previous post.

Above that, the most amusing item was the Dyn-O-Mat guy. Remember him? The one who wanted to put diaper material on a hurricane to slow it down?

Or AJStorm and his prediction of the Doomsday Hurricane on July 31st, 2004. (Only one major hurricane has formed in July in recent years. Hurricane Bertha in 1996)

I guess Hurricane Alex was the Doomsday Hurricane.

Or how about that guy who's always claiming that this religious group he's in can weaken hurricanes by meditating?

The term "Killer 'Cane" (used on CBS in Orlando), and WESH in Daytona Beach actually did use "Ivan the Terrible," although newscasters were warned strictly NOT to do so.

Interestingly (and I in no way am defending notsoGreatOne here), but here is a portion of his forecast for the 2004 hurricane season, issued in April 2004:

FLORIDA HAS A HIGH CHANCE OF GETTING HIT. MWHC PREDICTS 5 NAMED STORMS WILL HIT FLORIDA. FOUR BEING
HURRICANES, AND 2-3 BEING MAJOR HURRICANES.

Named storms to hit Florida (5):
Bonnie
Charley
Frances
Ivan
Jeanne

Number of hurricanes in that list (4)
Number of major hurricanes in that list (3)

He was absolutely correct. Talk about luck. Interesting how things work out.

Of course, at the time...

However, there's a huge difference between "aimlessly guessing" and "putting science to use." I'm putting all my money on that notsogreatone used the first optioin...
