Which weather weenie to watch in MIA?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Which weather weenie to watch in MIA?

#1 Postby jlauderdal » Thu May 19, 2005 2:59 pm

OK,

Now that Kamal is int he big house for 5 years and Steadham took off to Salt Lake to hang with his mormon friends who do we go to in AUG, SEPT, OCT?

Don Noe or Brian Norcross

Me thinks that Channel 4 has a monopoly when the canes are 72 hours out from sofla?

I will stick with Norcross..I dont like the new guy over @ 7 too much & John Gerard(Steadham's replacement) will always be a backup/weekend MET in my eyes. Why they gave those stiffs the title of Chief Met I do not know.

I like John Gerard but the other guy I could do without, they should have given the job to Tom Johnson.

For me is use to be..

1.Norcross
2.Kamal

& then basically a tie between Steadham & Noe..Tried to avoid these 2 if I could but when the hurricane adrenaline is pumping I watch them if need be.

Now however its going to be..

1.Norcross
2.Noe

& I really dont care about the other 2 @ all.

This one is a no brainer for me, Brian Norcross on CBS 4 is in my opinion the #1 chief meteorologist in the South Florida Market.

Noe is ok and I will view him just to see if he metions anything that Norcross dosen't.

As far as the new guy on 7, Phil Ferro, I don't know where they got him from, but most of the time he comes across stiff as a board as if he is just reading cue cards. I can't put my finger on it, but there is something about him I do not like.

The answer, of course, is storm2k! :D

Oh ... well if I have to pick a local met, I'll go with Norcross. :-)

jhon geradi also has a Masters Degree in meteorology, like Norcrosse. He is much more than a mere back-up

It's a shame about Bill Kamal actually. Personally, I think he was the best MET down here. Norcross, to me, has always been the type of MET to hype a storm, predicting the worst when all the other guys see it differently.
Stedham will be missed too. I did like John Geraldi from channel 6 too.

To me, Noe, Gerardi and that new spanish guy from channel 7 are all wooden.

Guess I am stuck with Norcross.

On NBC 6 there is John Guaraldi who is tolerable.

This is him

Now there is also John Gerard who has been there a while as a back-up or fill in.Filling in is what he has done the whole time he has been in South Florida.Though he has been with NBC 6 for some time his photo still not on the NBC 6 website..He also use to fill in for Noe.

Sorry.. I just dont like watching him no matter how many degrees he has.

Ground Zero 92..I agree with what you said about Phil Ferro..I cant put my finger on it either,I just don't like the guy.

Weather weenie?????????? Please can't we give respect where its due. I think they have earned it. I understand if you like one more than another, but this has been bugging me for days and I just felt like I had to give my opinion.

Not sure when he's leaving our area and arriving in yours, but coming soon to your south Fla. TV screens is David Bernard, an OCM for WWL-TV in New Orleans, and also heard on WWL 870 radio. Bernard was recently hired at the Miami area CBS affiliate, WFOR.

He's been with WWL in New Orleans for the last 10 or 11 years, so at least he's no tenderfoot when it comes to "talkin' tropics".

Sorry, I didn't realize it was an affectionate term for Mets.

I will still watch Norcross as first choice. When I first saw him on TV as a backup for Don Noe, I thought Wow!, this guy is really into the weather (like me) and he explains in great detail every scenario that can possibly happen. Learned quite a bit from him over the years.

In my opinion the best of the best is John Morales, Telemundo 51.
