This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

QUESTION: The last time a hurricane hit C.A. from the EPAC?

#1 Postby HURAKAN » Thu May 19, 2005 3:42 pm

I can't remember the last time a hurricane hit El Salvador or Guatemala from the Pacific side, thereafter, I ask. Does anyone knows when was the last time a hurricane hit C.A. from the Pacific side.

Every time we have an abnormality like this one, is time to learn from the past!

Answer, sort of (these quotes deal with specific time frames or locations, not all of CA or over an entire season)

The Hurricane Center said that since 1966, only one tropical depression has ever hit the coasts of Guatemala or El Salvador in May and none have done it so early, CBS News reports.

It sounds a little like a reporter twisted something the NHC said, but it's from http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/05/ ... 6630.shtml

Also,

If Adrian maintains hurricane force, it would be the first time on record that a Pacific hurricane had hit the country, said Antonio Arenas, director of El Salvador's National Service of Territorial Studies.
