Well my wife is from that part of the world too & though life can be tough there are ways to communicate & get around.

In the city limits yes, but as you go out further their aint jack there. If you are lost or need help forget it. I know its not ancient Egypt, but a lot of them still live like the Mayans did back then.. Very touristy for this kinda stuff.

If it'll make you feel better, cyclonaut, Guatemala is preparing for Adrian. All boats were asked to rturn to shore and marine activity has been banned. Also, 400,000 people have been evacuated from high-risk areas and shelters are being set up.

Well, dry air seems to have gotten into your eye and it's making it red. We'll have RECON seed it with Visine.

HurricaneBill..Thankfully my wife is here with me & she & her family are from Honduras so I think her remaining family there are mostly out of harms way..Thanks for the info though. :)
