Dr Chris Landsea and Dr William Gray tonight 8:00 PM

#1 Postby MWatkins » Sat May 14, 2005 1:43 am

We are pretty darn excited to announce that tonight at 8:00 PM EDT, May 16th the NOAA seasonal forecast will be announced. Dr Chris Landsea, who is part of the team that issues the outlook, will be with us tonight.

In addition, we will have an interview with Dr. William Gray and Phillip Klotzbach from Colorado State University. We will discuss how Dr. Gray discovered the relationship between El Nino and Atlantic hurricane activity.

We will also hear from Daniel Noah, who is the Forecast Warning Coordinator at the Tampa NWS office. He was down in SW Florida during hurricane Charley.

Please stop by tonight for some great information from the absolute best in the weather field.

Mike, I rarely get to hear your programs live, but I do listen once they have been archived. You and the others are doing a wonderful job with this program. Mike you have become well known in the Tropical field. You have come a long way in the last couple of years. :D :D

Thanks...

One thing I didn't do a very good job of pointing out...as it was late and I was as tired as I have ever been last night...is that those interviews with Daniel Noah and Dr. Gray and Philip Klotzbach were pre-recorded at the conference...so there won't be a chance to ask questions after they are over. However, I listened to each clip last night and the audio quality is about 2 to 3 times better than when the guests call in. I won't give away any trade secrets but the audio device we used was an EXCELLENT tool...special thanks to Aquawind for getting that set up.

Anyway Dr Landsea will be live and I hope we will have some time to ask him questions from the studio...

On a side note I think we had 8 or 9 folks there covering the event...Mike N and Zack also conducted interviews with Dr Gray and Max Mayfield...and I believe in all we have 14 or 15 different people from all over the preparedness and forecasting areas.

Right now are working on a schedule to get the 4 hours plus of audio aired within the next few weeks while working in all of the live content we still have scheduled as well. We should have that finalized sometime this weekend.
