Sorry but.....
I think hurricanes are exciting and help to "pump up" a community. Do I want one to knock on my front door???? NO. It still dosen't take the thrill of knowing one is comming my way if it does. As long as the safety percautions are taken and you have prepared as much as possible then there is nothing you can do about it. Just roll with the punches and enjoy the beauty of mother nature. She is powerful to say the least. The mess afterwards does kinda suck though.

Yeah like em or not they exsist & there is nothing you or I can do to alter their course.Thats why the word -removed- to me is ridiculous because you can't wish it to hit or wish it to miss..if its going to happen it will so take all the appropriate steps to protect life & property & hope for the best!

God darn I get sick of people saying that cheering for hurricane or tropical cyclone development some how causes it hit some one. What the heck is the problem with watching in being interesting in watching the development of cyclones?

Rant over. I hope we can forecast more in post trash less.

calm down
I don't believe anyone said that they wanted a storm to come there way. I believe what was said is that you can't prevent it from happening and just be prepared and make the best if one does come your way. Correct me if I am wrong.

This reminds me of last year when I heard some guy on Teamspeak who kept on saying that a storm was going to hit Tampa Bay. I know you can't control the path of the storm but it is people thinking this way. Rain, wind, storm surge, tornadoes,......do someone really want this? And the exaggerating by the media????

Heck no, nobody wants to be hammered by a Cat. 5 storm or any other storm. However, for adrenaline junkies there's no other feeling like it. Some people get scared and on the edge and head for higher ground, but folks like ourselves (most of us here) have a special interest in severe weather. When a storm threatens, its like taking a couple hits of speed. It really gets you going. Hurricanes are a bad thing for human progress, however they are mother nature at work and theres nothing we can do about them. Thats the best part of it, the unknown. As advanced as we may be, we are still at the mercy of mother nature. She is awesome! Beautiful yet horrible.

I think all storm nuts have roughly the same opinions on this issue -- nothing we think or want will change reality. That said, none of us really want a storm to hit a populous area -- we just want to end up whereever they hit.
I love tornadoes and rush out each year to find them, but I prefer them to churn through empty fields, not cities.

I get really excited when the storm has a reasonable chance to hit me or near me..thats when the sleepless nights begin & the adrenaline pumps..If its not coming to me I just watch casualy & wait for the next.
Yeah, I get really excited when I have to pack my posterior and 3 cats, and a few possessions that can't be replaced into a car, jump onthe highway, and fight it out with a bunch of hysterical cohorts, all going the same place on the same road, at exactly the same time. Yeah, what an adrenaline rush that is.
