Although it only goes from 1886 up until 2000, the table lists all months divided in to 10 day intervals.

May 1-10 - 2 storms
May 11-20 - 6 storms
May 21-31 - 7 storms

Interesting to note that the number doubles to 14 storms the week of June 1-10.

ADDENDUM:

Chad, I looked around to find the site that I recalled having a monthly database for storms...it was a page at Hurricane Alley, http://www.hurricanealley.net/natlhst.htm , but the links to the graphics all seem to have gone 404. If you look under the May pull down bar , it does list the years, so you could just take those to the good ol' Unisys tropical page and find them there. Hope this helps. :D
