This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Not So Great Huh?

#21 Postby Downdraft » Mon Apr 25, 2005 10:01 pm

He issues "tropical storm one" alert for a system 120 miles east of South Carolina then goes on say there are no tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean?

Since I posted the above I got an e-mail calling me a bozo and the web page has been changed as if it never had such a stupid error on it. Nice to know you still read Storm2k Tom maybe you'll learn something even if it's just by osmosis.

I know it's your personal decision, but maybe you should not provide your e-mail address for people to see. I never give out my e-mail address unless I'm confident that the person has a GOOD e-mail to send me.

...and yet the big dummy still can't learn how to spell Atlantic (or shall I say, "Atlatnic").

I got into a an email "fight" with him the other night after calling his site a fraud. Wish I could block his email address, but if I do that, I block a lot of my friends at the same time.

I'm the person that initiated this thread, so please tell me why you think it is suspicious. I had never heard of the "Midwest Hurricane Center" before. Several days ago, I stumbled upon their website and merely posed a question to the forum of peoples' opinions as to the meteorolgical credibility of the site. Like some others on Storm2K, I had received an invite to join their new Yahoo forum and I was merely curious as to what they were all about.

I have seen a number of messages throughout Storm2K regarding "The Great One" and his trolling tendencies, but had no idea this was the individual responsible for the "Midwest Hurricane Center" site. If I fanned any flames of hostility for my inquiry, I am truly sorry.

Lou, you owe no one apologies. You posed a legitimate question and the responses poured in. I think they speak for themselves.

Jason, if you have concerns about this thread pm either myself or any other mod or admin Chad and Marshall and we will be glad to address them. If you are saying this was orchestrated to make that site look bad, I can assure it was not.

Yes Recmod, you didn't really start any flame wars. Granted, we shouldn't stoop to Trashy One's level and insult him; rather, we should just ignore him. Still what we have said about him is rather friendly compared to some of the other stuff he has said to people before, such as the NHC sucks and I remember one time when he got a forecast right, he DEMANDED an apology. Ya know what, if you're right, brag about it LIGHTLY (for instance say I told you so!)....don't just demand an apology from us.

Anyone I'll stop now before I spew out anything more.

If I can be so bold as to make a suggestion, we need to stop talking about this guy. He's obviously an attention whore, and this is just giving him what he wants.

One doesn't need to do much orchestrating to make not so greatone or his site look bad.He does a excellent job doing that on his own.

Nice site! Excellent scrapbook of Orlando Sentinel stories and photos from before and after Charley. Always good to have a detailed local perspective to look back on now and in years to come.

Yep, issue a Code Ornage (Oragne, same thing) for the entire Atlatnic coast from Texas to Miane for the approach of Huricane Graet Noe. (really should be a typo for Great? No)
