Special Guests tonight! You must see this line-up!Radio.NHCW

#1 Postby depotoo » Tue Apr 26, 2005 10:16 am

Tonight there is a great line-up for both Talkin Tropics and SevereWeather Central!

Tonight on Talkin Tropics @ 8:30 eastern ~
w? Mike Watkins
Join us this week on TalkinTropics.

National Hurricane Center Forecaster Dr. Jack Beven will be joining the TalkinTropics program on Tuesday, April 26th, starting at 8:30PM EDT. Dr. Beven is currently one of only 4 hurricane forecasters at the NHC right now, and has a tremendous amount of insight into hurricanes and tropical cyclones in general.

If you like to hear it from the best in the business, you can't miss Tuesday's broadcast. .

and then on Severe Weather Central @ 10:30 eastern ~
w/ Michael Moss & James Covington

Our special guest will be Dennis O' Brien who currently resides in Reston, Virginia. Dennis will be talking to us about his severe weather experiences, including those told by his father who survived the deadly Worcester, MA tornado in 1953 that was an F4 and killed 94 people. With over 1000 injuries in that storm and his dad being an orthopedic surgeon, he helped treat many of the victims of that tornado. Dennis experienced an F2 tornado during the Republican National Convention in July of 1980 that he attended. At that time he was a Legislative Assistant to Congressman Philip Crane (R-Illinois) He has also worked a number of years in educational television production with The cable network TLC. Also he worked for seven years with the American Red Cross at their national headquarters.

Don't miss these 2 great events! Tune into radio.NHCWX.com

Don't thin the herd too much

#2 Postby hurricanetrack » Tue Apr 26, 2005 12:11 pm

Just a minor error- we don't want to thin out the NHC staff pre-maturely. We still have:

Beven
Stewart
Pasch
Franklin and
Avila

So- Jack is one of 5 left- thankfully! And they are probably the top five in the world.

Looking forward to the show.

am sure you must be right - sorry for the error! we would NOT want to short change any of the great forecasters at the NHC! what would we ever do without them???

It gets even better..

Wednesday night at 8:30pm on Radio NHCWX Mike and Zack will have Dave Tolleris / DT on their show The Weather Round Table..

DT is very knowledgeable, experienced and surely knows his weather... It should be a great discussion..

wow! sounds great - you know the station and the partnership here ais a great thing! the weather wolrd on the internet and the big guys with weather i think are really beginning to notice what great sites these both are!

guys remember that both run on donations and with the season fast approaching - we all need to do what we can to help support them so they will be here for us when when need them the most!

links are on the front page here for contributing and on the front page of the radio station - i think the guys sites accept them as well.

if anyone from last year remembers the site got overwhelmed at times so many people were here looking for all their fabulous information and we want to help them keep this thing up and running for this season - if it is anything like last year - we really really need them! n they are really doing a public service by being here for us!

i sent in my donation this month - have you? :D

I can say that the new hurricane specialist replacing Miles Lawrence has been named; however, I'll let the NHC make the formal announcement (one that I have had contact with in the past, not one of the better known at NHC). It kind of slipped out within a field in a seminar announcement e-mail
