Late season troughs?

I have noticed there have been some posts regarding late seasons troughs in April. If everyone recalls, last year there was a late season trough in Mid August that brought some cool temperatures to parts of the south. The very same trough was responsible for Charley taking a more October like path. I don't think troughs in April mean anything. Look at what happened the rest of the hurricane season last year after that unseasonably strong August trough! If I remember correctly there were also a couple troughs that preceded it during late July.

Also, I know there is alot of talk of ridges and troughs, but remember, much of it has to do with timing. If the trough is late, Charley probably heads more toward the Central Gulf Coast. If there had been any shortwaves to weaken the ridge, Frances maybe heads toward the Carolinas or out to sea. Same thing with Jeanne. If I remember right, back in 2003 Henry helped to erode the western edge of a rather strong ridge which helped pull Isabel more northward. If Henry had not been there, who knows?

yeah, I posted some of those topics...there may not be a correlation, but one would think that late Spring "troughiness" can say something about Hurricane hits in the U.S. I'm just not quite sure what the relationship is, if any.
