The committee met to consider a replacement for Brian Jarvinen, who
recently retired. After some discussion, agreement was reached on a candidate.
The suggestion will be forwarded to Max before further action.
Well now there are 2 forecasters who will be replaced before the 2005 season starts. This one was the less known as people know more about Stacy Stewart,Beven,Lixon Avila and Lawrence who is going too.

And don't forget Dr. Richard Pasch....
The early favorite I belive will be Jaime Rhome from TAFB.
I really have no inside knowledge on that but that would be my guess...he does an outstanding job over there. I hope he gets it.

No David Miles Lawrence is leaving too.Stacy,Beven,Avila and Pasch will stay. Now we will see who will be the new NHC forecasters that will replace Lawrence and Jarvinen.

Agree 100% about Tony Cristaldi being a great candidate for that position.

Jarvinen is not a full time specialist so I think when his position is filled, that person will also be a fill in hurricane forecaster.
Here is the link to Lawrance retiring in todays herald. you may have to register to read it: http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/local/11363299.htm
I think the ideal canidates will be either Rob Molleda who does the high seas forecast, Michelle Mainelli or the guy who did the FAQ's, Chris Landsea.

Oh geez. I hope this doesn't mean discussions will be aided by Great One! (as far as I know, he always says he has interviewed Landsea)
*runs away and hides* Not that I wish ill on Great One or certainly Landsea.....

If I am correct, Jarvinen is or was the storm surge expert there.. Could be a tuff position to fill in that regard.
