Yeah! I am getting in on the rain this time. So far Covington has had 0.65" and it's coming down pretty good. It would appear that the rain shadow is further south than normal today. Interesting to note, that generally when these baroclinic bands come through with the rain shadow to the south, it usually means a period of well below normal temperatures is coming.
It continues to look like two or three strong cold fronts will come through in the next week. Each one is suppossed to usher in 850mb temps of -5 to -7C. At day 5 or so an area of -30 850mb temps is progged to drop to extreme southern Alaska! That is AMAZINGLY cold for this time of year. I am hoping that such cold air dropping over the ocean will able to generate some really wild stuff!

Wow! I fugured the mountains would get some snow before it changed over to rain, but not this much! Very exciting. It would apppear that the brief warmup will do little more than melt the new snow. After that they get snow, snow, and more snow. This event will really help fill the reservoirs, and leave a nice snowpack. PERFECT!
Edit: Steven's Pass is getting hammered! They had 3 inches between 8:00am and 9:00am, and it is still coming down like crazy. The camera up there is getting so much snow on the lens you can hardly see anything. They had 30 inches on the ground as of 9:00am. It may be interesting to make a trip up there sometime next week.
