Sounds like just breezy conditions this afternoon, but anything can happen, this mornings blow certainly wasn't forecasted to be as intense as it was!!!!

DISCUSSION...AREAS OF RAIN ON THE 88D...RAIN JUST REDEVELOPED HERE AT THE OFFICE AT 9AM. THE MAIN OCFNT WAS EARLIER THIS MORNING AND WHILE IT WAS RATHER WINDY WITH THAT...THE GRADIENTS HAVE SINCE COLLAPSED GOING FROM +5MB KOLM-BLI TO ZERO NOW...BY 00Z THE GRADIENT SHOULD BE BACK UP ENOUGH FOR SMALL CRAFTS ALL WATERS AND BREEZY MOST ZONES. THIS NEXT FEATURE IS WEAKER...WE WILL CALL IT A COLD FRONT BUT THE PROFILER SHOWS THE MAIN FRONT WAS OBVIOUSLY LAST NITE. THIS IS SORT OF A SECONDARY COLD FRONT...OR JUST CALL IT A TROF. THE FREEZING LEVEL IS AROUND 4500FT THIS MORNING AND SHOULD GRADUALLY FALL THROUGH TONIGHT AS COOL AIR ALOFT OFFSHORE SHIFTS E. THERE IS A MID LEVEL DECK OF CLOUDS BETWEEN THE HIGH DECK ALONG THE COAST AND THE AREA OF JUST LOW CLOUDS FURTHER OFFSHORE WHICH BECOME SCT-BKN BEHIND THE TROF AROUND 100 MILES OFFSHORE AT 16Z. THE MAIN LOW AROUND 987MB IS FILLING OVER B.C. ALOFT...THE COOLEST AIR MASS MOVES INLAND OVERNITE AND MONDAY AS THE 514DM H5 LOW OPENS TO A TROF FILLS AND REACHES WRN WA BY DAYBREAK MON. RAIN LOOKS OKAY FOR TODAY AND THERE SHOULD BE PLENTY OF SHOWERS TONIGHT. THE SNOW ADVISORY FOR TONIGHT LOOKS GOOD. MONDAY WOULD LOOK LIKE A GOOD DAY FOR PSCZ W/ A COOL UNSTABLE AIR MASS AND WLY WIND ALOFT...BUT THE SURFACE WINDS GO ALL WRONG AS LIGHT SE FLOW DEVELOPS AND OFFSHORE FLOW INCREASES THRU MONDAY NIGHT. A 999MB LOW VERTICALLY STACKED W/ A 542DM H5 LOW MOVE TO THE NORTHERN CALIF COAST BY MIDDAY TUE. BY THAT TIME KPDX-KBLI GRADIENT IS -5MB (NORTH WIND) ON THE MESOETA. NWS is always on the safe side of things. They wouldn't want to come out and claim that there would be a massive windstorm when everything may change and we get little to no wind. So, they can plant themselves in the middle and just say breezy conditions, so that there may be a big windstorm, or that may be absolutely nothing.

It talks about the 12-12-95 windstorm that I was talking about earlier about that really low barometer readings, the same reading as last night!! Too bad this windstorm wasn't as strong as that one

And the rain keeps coming...
I'm interested in that low off the coast. It's taking a path that is perfect for a windstorm...unfortunately I can't tell if it's a surface or upper level low. In any event, latest NWS does indicate the winds will increase again this afternoon...but nothing compared to this morning. I guess we can hope for something unexpected!!
This week looks fairly dry and seasonal. Next week could be interesting as a powerful cold front swings through...with a Hawaiian connection. Not good news for the mountains, but great news for our local reservoirs and rivers.

Last night about midnight I had sustained 37MPH Winds with a Gust as high as 55. I went down to the dock and looked up in the sky and it was just ROARING like crazy... It was sort of creepy... Pretty amazing stuff. I could hear the winds whipping against the hills. I could hear branches crashing, trees falling, something I havn't heard in a REALLY long time. I hope it gets really really windy here again this evening.

Though we will have quite the clean up to do at the golf course tomarrow!!
Just moved the one tree that was blocking the cart path with the tractor, tomarrow will be the real clean up!! Will probably take about 2 days or so.

52 F here, so I tend to think that the temperature reading in Covington (only a few miles away from where I am) is off a bit.
