Atlantic ITCZ Very Active for March
Two very strong waves in the Atlantic ITCZ, the farthest west one near South America has some rotation...signs to come for upcoming hurricane season 2005. Any thoughts about what we are seeing out there?

There are no tropical waves in the area at this time. The ITCZ flares up and fades down many times as it fluctuates depending on the troughs that ignites the axis with upper divergence which what does is enhance convection and that is what is triggering the ITCZ to flare. However when may arrives we will see the first tropical waves (Weak) and also the ITCZ axis moving north in latitud.Right now very dry air is dominating most of the eastern atlantic with the SAL(Saharan Air Layer) there (Look at Water Vapor Image below) and that combined with the ridge more south than normal is keeping the ITCZ way south in latitud which is normal at this time.

there does appear to be a very weak wave associated with the convection.
Tropical waves are more than possible this time of year. They are just typically at very low lats, as this one is
