CENTRE PERTH AT 1521UTC 13 MARCH 2005

GALE WARNING FOR THE WESTERN AREA

Please be aware, wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the
averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

SITUATION
Tropical Cyclone Willy with central pressure
980 hPa located at 1600UTC to within 30 nautical miles of
Latitude twenty one decimal one south [21.1S]
Longitude one hundred and seven decimal nine east [107.9E]
and moving west at 4 knots.


AREA AFFECTED
Within 80 nautical miles of centre, extending to within 120 nautical miles in
southern quadrants.


FORECAST
Winds 30/40 knots with very rough seas and moderate to heavy swell. Within 40
nautical miles of the centre, extending to within 60 nautical miles in southern
quadrants, expect winds 40/55 knots, with high to very high seas.

At 1600UTC 14 March 20.6 south 105.6 east 1000hPa

Yet another cyclone off the coast of Western Australia to bite the dust this season.

Willy lasted longer than the others however.

Unfortunately the cyclone turned SW and not SE toward the Australian mainland where the moisture of the system is very needed.

the size of willy enabled some rainfall to fall on Western Australia
