Worldwide Tropical Update: 06 March 2005

#1 Postby senorpepr » Sat Mar 05, 2005 8:50 pm

The Storm2K Worldwide Tropical Update for 06 March 2005 at 00Z.

Tropical Cyclone Ingrid (08U/91P) (06/00Z)
Position: 12.7S 148.0E (250 mi S of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea)
Movement: ESE at 8 mph
Winds: 55 mph
Pressure: 998 mb / 29.47"
Dvorak Est: T2.5/2.5

BoM has just upgraded this system into Ingrid. Expect further slow development of this cyclone. The JTWC has already issued a formation alert on this system.

I've turned on the alert page from TC Ingrid. You can get up-to-date information on Ingrid such as observations, webcams, tracking charts, satellite, etc. from the alert page. Of course, if you have any ideas of additional data that you'd like to see on the alert page, please pass them along to me. Thanks!

Tropical Cyclone Rae (12F/21P) (06/00Z)
Position: 21.7S 163.9W (680 mi SE of Pago Pago, American Samoa)
Movement: SSE at 17 mph
Winds: 45 mph
Pressure: 990 mb / 29.23"
Dvorak Est: T2.0/2.0

Organization with Rae has improved over the past day. Convection is hearty near the center of circulation. Strong divergence aloft and good outflow is trying to help Rae, but strengthening shear is trying to counteract it. Expect some continued intensification, but only in the short-term. Thereafter, the shear and the subtropical ridge to Rae’s SE will help weaken the system.

For more information on the aforementioned system(s), to include official advisories from the Regional Specialized Meteorological Centers, go to the Storm2K’s Worldwide Tropical Update website at

I've amended the above post to reflect the JTWC upgrading the system from Invest 92P to Rae (21P).

Furthermore, I've updated the website to reflect the changes from 92P to 21P.

Once again, I've amended the 00Z update to reflect BoM's upgrade on TC Ingrid.

I've also made the needed upgrades to the webpage to reflect Ingrid.

I've turned on the alert page for Ingrid. As I mention above, if you have any ideas of data that you'd like to see on the page, please let me know.

Thanks,
Mike
