Yes... the last two runs of the GFS have thrown out the idea of a wildly retrograding high pressure over Alaska.
Instead... the GFS has trended more towards what we really need which is cool, moist, zonal flow.
Looks much more reasonable.
And much less likely for any sub-freezing temperatures or snow in the lowlands.

I am game for either sceanrio...the cold high amplitude offshore ridging or the big time zonal flow. Now the 12z shows we could even get a drenching next week! Perhaps the sunny and warm weather that looked so certain is not even going to happen now...or if it does, it may be for just a short time. At any rate, it looks like reality is returning.
Maybe this will make the rock station DJ's who know nothing about weather stop spouting off about global warming! I cannot believe they think that one winter with low snowfall in the mountains means the end of skiing for all time in this state. Good grief! It's just one bloody winter!

Good morning folks. Looking the 6z and 12z GFS, it appears that this high pressure system is not all to strong as was shown in last nights runs. Even the 12z is weaker with the high and allows a few 'spot' showers over us for the Monday - Wednesday period of next week....or at least tries anyway. 6z is a bit stronger with high for this weekend - middle of next week. At any rate, it looks like we should get some decent weather days. But from Wednesday evening(9th) onward, looks like a pretty wet period may be on the way. -- Andy

What a pathetic ebarrassment this weather is! We can't even get a stupid front in here. We can only hope that we have about two months of real active weather starting next week. It is very possible that the second half of this month and April will be cloudier, wetter, and nastier than most of the winter.
If it were to stay like this, it would drive me crazy....but most years that are consistently like this early have very active and cool weather the second half of the year.

Yep... pretty pathetic right now.
Change is coming.
Not the massive arctic outbreak or lowland snow that you wanted... but a change is coming.
Zonal flow will prevail eventually.
March will be a good month when all is said and done. That means above normal rainfall in the lowlands and above normal snowfall in the mountains.
Could go right on through April as well.

AWESOME day outside!! If only the sun angle was a little higher...then the temperatures would be in the 70s. I don't see anyone doesn't like this weather. Like I've said many times, it puts me in an awesome mood!!
Well, just as I figured, the GFS has thrown away the idea of an arctic outbreak next weekend. I knew that was coming...just doesn't happen in the middle of March. But a cool, zonal flow looks more likely. Next week is still shaping up to be awesome!! Afternoon high temperatures at least in the 60s with plenty of sunshine. Though, 500 mb heights aren't quite as high as what has been advertised the past week...still an awesome weather week!!
I pray summer is really nice!! Temperatures in the 80s with plenty of sunshine would be awesome!!

Currently 61F with filtered sunshine.

Anthony...the problem to me is that it's meaningless to have nice weather before we have really had any strong weather. If I wanted this 12 months out of the year, I would live in California. It is funny how everybody freaks out, and thinks the world is coming to an end when they get what is simply normal for us. If we can get some real weather in here for a couple of months, I will relish getting some sunny and warm weather. In my mind we just haven't earned it yet.
The long gloomy winters, is what makes the nice weather in the spring and summer so special.

Hey Tim, Randy, snow wizzard, Anthony.....I agree, pretty darn nice day today! Even worked out in my garden for most of the morning and early afternoon before heading into work. As I think I`v mentioned before, I have been fixing up my raised and also adding in lots of good rich compost into them. Sure does take a lot of work to make a garden look nice! Not really a whole in my garden right now, but do very well plan to make it look nice with lots of plants and flowers.
Here`s a few pics I took of my garden earlier today. Enjoy my pics!

Took my dogs for a walk at Kayak point park on puget sound after work, and there was not even a puff of wind, dead calm and sunny with a temp of 60 degrees! People were out on the beach BBQ ing
and kids were throwing the frisbee around. Really felt like a summer day
Current temp is 46.0 degrees under clear skies.
