Updates to the Worldwide Tropical Update Homepage!

#1 Postby senorpepr » Mon Feb 14, 2005 5:09 pm

For those of you that haven’t stopped by the webpage for a while, the homepage has had new links installed to link you to the latest official warnings from the Regional Specialized Meteorological Centers as well as the US Navy (JTWC).

In addition, links have been added to numerous met centers around the globe for the latest and most local weather information concerning tropical cyclones, worldwide.

Also in place is the 2005 storm summary. This page lists, by basin, all the storms that have formed in the 2005 season (04/05 season in the Southern Hemisphere). This list also includes systems that only the JTWC classified and vice versa. In the near feature, tracking maps will be included for each storm.

The names page is also available to list all the upcoming names that will be used in the future for each basin.

The newest feature is the Metsat page. On this page you will find basin-tracking maps of the latest storms as well as their forecast paths. Also, there are satellite images covering every basin. For active storms, floaters have been added to the top of the page that will show you the latest enhanced infrared and visible satellite images of that particular storm.

I’m always looking for new ideas and suggestions to make it better for all of the Storm2K members. Don’t hesitate on passing on your thoughts!

Oh boy, oh boy! More changes!

Today I've moved the storm floaters into the main page.

Also, I've added links to Radio NHCWX, home of The Talkin' Tropics and Barometer Bob Shows.

I've removed the satellite and maps page, but added several basin-specific pages with shear maps, satellite, etc. I'm sure you'll find this useful.

I’m always looking for new ideas and suggestions to make it better for all of the Storm2K members. Don’t hesitate on passing on your thoughts!

The Worldwide Tropical Update website was down off and on throughout the night while it was being upgraded. For the most part everything is a cosmetic change.

Please pass along any feedback you may have!

Also, if you have some ideas on automated recon report pages, let me know. That's a little "something" that is in the works.

BTW, should the webpage(s) come up with a blue background, click refresh. A white colored background should appear.

The page has been tested using IE v6.0 and Firefox v1.0.2.

Let me know if you encounter any problems.
