TROPICAL CYCLONE ADVICE NUMBER 7
Issued by the Bureau of Meteorology, Brisbane
Issued at 4:56am on Friday the 21st of January 2005

A Cyclone WATCH is current for coastal and island communities between Weipa and Gilbert River Mouth on Cape York Peninsula. The watch is cancelled for communities between Mapoon and Weipa.

At 4am EST, 3.30 am CST, a Tropical Low, central pressure 1002 hPa, was located near latitude 13.7 south longitude 142.5 east, which is about 80 km west-northwest of Coen on Cape York Peninsula. The low is stationary.

The low is expected to remain slow moving today and then move southwest across Cape York Peninsula and could develop into a Tropical Cyclone late Saturday in the eastern Gulf of Carpentaria.

Gales may develop near the coast in the eastern Gulf of Carpentaria late Saturday.

Locally heavy rainfalls can be expected.

People between Weipa and Gilbert River Mouth should consider action they will need to take if the cyclone threat increases and listen to the next advice.

The next advice will be issued by 11am EST, 10.30am CST, Friday.

:rarrow: As long as the low pressure stays over land the system will not be able to develop. :larrow:
