AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA
520 PM EST SAT JAN 8 2005
.SHORT TERM...
FRONT PROGRESSING SLOWLY THROUGH CWA THIS AFTERNOON. SHOULD NOT AFFECT MINS MUCH SINCE FRONT WILL BE OUT OF THE AREA BY LATE THIS EVENING. CLOUDS MAY BE MOVING OUT A LITTLE MORE SLOWLY THAN EXPECTED TONIGHT. SHOULD SEE SOME PATCHY FOG LATE TONIGHT.
EXTRAORDINARILY NICE WEATHER SUNDAY. I WOULD GIVE AWAY ONE OF MY AWIPS WORKSTATIONS TO HAVE NICE WEATHER LIKE THIS ALL WINTER LONG. MET/MAV BLEND FOR TEMPS LOOKS SUPER.
.LONG TERM...
ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END. GFS/ECMWF FCST CHANGE TO L/W PATTERN. SPLIT FLOW IN THE WEST AND LARGE BROAD TROUGH IN THE EAST BEFORE WEEKS END. BEST CHANCE FOR PRECIP WONT OCCUR UNTIL LATE WED AND THURS. NOT BITING TOO MUCH ON WAA PRECIP AHEAD OF NEXT S/W AND FRONT PROGGED FOR THUR. DIDNT PAN OUT TOO WELL LAST WEEK OR TWO WHEN GFS WAS GETTING WIGGY WITH THAT. HAVE SLT CHC FOR FAR NORTH FOR TUE-WED.
THAT SAID...IF GFS IS TO BE BELIEVED MAX TEMPS WILL BE 20S NEXT
WEEKEND BEHIND THAT 1047MB SFC HIGH. TEMPER WITH A GOOD DOSE OFCLIMATOLOGY FOR NOW.

Apparently, Peachtree City NWS Mets don't like winter weather in the winter!
