In the Atlantic or Eastern Pacific. We call that a tropical storm with at least 40 to 50 mph winds. :D

But in the Southern Hemisphere and NIO they are called Tropical Cyclones regardless of intensity. Also, JT doesn't have official naming authority anymore and the agencies that do have different criteria for naming storms based upon 10 minute winds and km/hr speeds (usually around 60 kph). That equates to a 10 minute wind of 33 kt which is equivalent to a one minute of 39kt.

Latest satellite imagery shows that the TC is intensifying at a fair clip and is very likely not only above the advisory intensity at time 0 but very likely above the maximum forecast intensity.
