My SOUTHERN snow weenies TX to FL -- this is for you...

SG, VB, CM, KC, Brent, and yes even Bron and Chad your ON NOTICE... :D

Possible significant winter storm for the SE US still on the table and the amount of cold air available might be underdone given the high to the north (MAJOR CAD situation...attention SF).

Nope. But then again who would have expected four hurricanes to impact the same state w/ two from the Arlantic and two from the Gulf in one season?

ummmm...could you extend "D" about 120 miles east of Beaumont? :P That would make for a very merry Christmas for me!

Woo Hoo! Just caught the weather on both local news channels. They're both showing 30% of snow for Christmas eve. Rob Perillo on KATC said "at the very least, we should see snow flurries on Christmas eve." He knows better than to not throw around the S word this far out unless we had a real shot at it. 8-)

Jeny, think your area should see mostly frozen precip .

I just had a look at the 12z GFS BUFKIT sounding at TLH, and the sounding looks isothermal through a deep layer between 700 and 900mb during the 108-120hr period w/ high RH values near the snow growth layer. IF this keeps up the next several runs things will get very interesting for N FL .

For those of you in the JAX, St. Augustine, JAX sounding shows an IP signal after 120hrs.

keep in mind this is still several days away and the GFS tends to blow things out of proportion WRT the amount of cold air around, BUT given the strong high to the north I don't think we can rule out some frozen precip perhaps as far south as a Gainesville-St Augustine line. Assuming everything falls into line.

Amazing if that verifies. Imagine, white Christmas for parts of Florida while some areas up in the plains have a brown Christmas.

If memory serves me correct (and it may not since its already failing and im only in my mid 20s) There was a similar event back in the 1950s, which gave the panhandle quite a bit of snow. Perhaps Don can help me out w/ this one.
