Just watched Mark Sudduth's DVD - Hurricanes of 2004

This is a must have for any tropics watcher or anybody who was just floored by this season.

If you haven't seen the clip of the eyewall of Charley on his site, it's on here and much more.

There's incredible footage of the Isuzu getting pounded by Ivan's surge, which relocated the vehicle pretty effectively even though it was strapped down.

This hurricane season reminds me of the 1974 Super Outbreak ... in the respect that even though it broke records and lives and property were lost, the information that was gained from these events is invaluable and the only bright spot that remains.

Same here but Mark is working hard on getting the shipments out. He keeps his site updated with the progress. Its just more of a task than anticipated.

Cant wait to see it and compare it Jeff Gammons and the WXvine team. That is another buy for any tropical weather fanatic. Its truley amazing.

Thanks for the good reviews so far.

The DVD project was originally intended to be 90 minutes long and ended up being 120 minutes. I put in about 140 hours to capture, edit, write and narrate the program. I also did the music myself using OLD synthesizers from my days of wanting to be a "pop star".

I am pleased at how the program turned out and appreciate the help from partner, Jesse Bass. Some of his footage is in the show too- not just mine.

As far as some orders that have not arrived- all of them have shipped now and everyone should have theirs by Saturday.

I definitely underestimated how long it takes to do such a huge project. We're talking all of the hurricane landfalls plus a tiny bit of Bonnie in there too. The bottom line is that I am proud of the program and have received 100% positive feedback on it so far. I have had orders from around the world- so I guess it is an international hit.

I have seen the Weathervine video and the eyewall video is unreal. To see so much stuff flying through the air really drives the point home as to what can happen in that kind of hurricane. What I DO NOT understand is how there could be so much destruction- but there were shots in their video (as well as ours) that show stoplights still hanging in-tact or small trees still standing- among areas that the wind must have been over 130 to 140 mph on the ground. That needs some explaining- why some things survive and some things get pummeled.

Anyhow- good to hear good things about the DVD- and for those still waiting on theirs- do not worry- they're on the way.

I have bought the DVD just a few minutes ago. The preview is really good and it's a convenient and enriching idea to have a DVD that shows the crude of the 2004 hurricane season, the costliest season in United States history. This will be part of history and I want to have it stored to re-live it every time I want and to show the next generations how bad is when the "luck" runs out. Thanks isobar for remember me about this important event.

I noticed too how some things survived that shouldn't have. All the small trees in front of the Justice building in the weathervine video were constantly leaning over during stongest winds yet most remained intact, possibly because they were small and being younger trees they had more ability to bend but not snap. During Pongsona's landfall on Guam, a large tree that was in the video during the storm was still standing but all it's leaves were stripped. The Palm trees I saw during the Charley video seemed to have strong trunks and didn't bend much during eyewall winds.

I shall have to see what the problem is- all of the DVDs are in the mail and you should have received yours by now. I know it was MUCH later getting out than I originally planned- but yours should have arrived days ago.

I will make sure I send another one with USPS delivery confirmation on it. Only a few- literally 3 or 4 have not made it to their owners. Not good for my customers- but not horrible considering how easy it is just to steal one out of the postal bin; although I could never prove that.

Hang in there- I'll make sure you get your DVD.

perhaps some of the smaller things are able to survive because near the surface (the surface layer of the boundary layer), the wind increases logrithmically with height. Therefore, if something is not very high, the winds may onle be 50-75 percent of those at the standard 10m reporting level
