Big storm and temperature change this time next week

Look at the GFS Model for a 994 MB Low and the temps in behind it!

Definately severe weather ahead of it and lots of snow and cold behind it. I'd look for some record low temps next week

Yes, but it looks WAY WAY WAY overdone with that cold in the Upper Midwest. -20 for MN? Don't think so RIGHT NOW... :eek:

I think that temperature map was for the overnight hours. -20 is definately possible up there this time of the year.

Probably so. Our Severe Patterns are getting more and more active and farther to the North and East. Very simliar to Severe of the 60's and 70's

The latest GFS Puts that low at 991 mb! It is pushing the core of the artic air even farther to the east.

Almost looks like now there are going to be 2 big systems. That 2nd one looks to be a huge Storm coming into the NW Pacific coast, go along the Canadian Border and then dip down into the Midwest and then the SE with a HUGE Trough. I'd look for some record lows afterwards and some severe ahead of it

Yeah it has changed a bit. Still showing two storms, with the first one bringing a pretty good shot of cold air behind it. The second looks to be more of a clipper type system.

At the end of the GFS forecast period, a large ridge is forecast to develop all the way into Canada. Could even be some record highs in the upper Midwest about this time next week

The GFS is bogus... it cannot handle the kind of pattern we are in too well.
