I'm sure most of you know about the Farmers' Almanac. In their annual issue, they issue a weather forecast for around the U.S. for every 3 days. Here's how accurate it was for 2004:
August 1-3: A Tropical Disturbance from the Gulf of Mexico comes north, possibly intensifying to a hurricane before making landfal near Florida Gulf Coast. (Can anyone say Bonnie, but 1 week early)
August 4-7: Another hurricane threat eastern Gulf of Mexico, with the storm shifting to the north. (Charley big time, but a week early)
Sept. 8-11: Two tropical disturbances, one off southeast US coast, other is over Gulf of Mexico. (Ivan and Jeanne, though just a little too early)
Sept. 16-19: Another tropical disturbance in Gulf of Mexico. (Ivan 2?)
So they missed Alex, Gaston, and Matthew. Not bad, IMO.
Just for fun... here is 2005.
July 20-23: Possible hurricane Mid-Atlantic states.
August 16-19: Hurricane threat Gulf Coast.
Possible Hurricane Beryl (Uh-oh Floydbuster) and Hurricane Debby? We'll see.

Do you think the TWO DISTURBANCES OFF THE SOUTHEAST COAST WERE Gaston and Hermine???

The Farmer's Almanac is worthless garbage.
You can't give a week of leeway on either side of what is already a spread of dates and a vague forecast to begin with.
Basically, any given forecast for a given year, if you allow a three week spread for each instance, can be applicable to ANY remotely active tropical season.
The central technique of scam pseudoscience forecasters (weather, earthquakes, etc.) is making vague, worthless from a practical sense, forecasts almost certain to be correct by dumb luck.

Hurakan, I got messed up with the names, whoops. Floydbuster, maybe they were Gaston and Hermine, with Gaston forming further west. Derecho, yea, the Farmers' almanac isn't exactly science, but it is pretty neat when storms happened somewhere that date. I don't mind active seasons. Just be sure to have plenty of fishies. That would be an ideal season.

Farmer's Almanac
Which issue of the '04 Almanac ? Just the regular one? They have "Southern States" etc. I looked and looked in mine and couldn't find a thing on these storms.. I'd heard the same thing you quoted. Maybe I'm not looking in the right one?? Matter of fact, wondered why there was no mention at all of tropical systems.. They have been very spookily correct!
