FEMA Money

#1 Postby sprink52 » Fri Oct 29, 2004 8:25 am

I was wondering if any one on the board has applied for FEMA assistance and have you received any money yet? We applied for Frances on Spt 9, had an inspector on Oct. 14 but no check yet. We have been told by FEMA that we have been approved but there has been no disbursement date set. The FEMA web site and their "on hold" narrative when you call and wait 45 min says to expect a check within 10 days of the inspectors visit. It has been over two weeks for us and two months since the storm!! :grr:

We applied for FEMA assistance on October 13th. On October 15th, the inspector came and on October 19th, my funds were in my bank account.
We were ver  y lucky, compared to the stories I'm hearing  .

I've spent $10,000 out of my own pocket so far to repair my house. Insurance and FEMA have both been out, but I haven't seen a dime yet. :(

Did you mail/fax back the info they request?

I received a letter from FEMA that I had to fill out and submit copies of receipts. I did that and got my money 3 days days after the inspector came over.

The big scandal is Dade County has received more FEMA money than any county impacted this year. Why a county that was not impacted could ask for and receive assistance is a mystery by itself. Why it could receive more money than the counties that had actual landfalls from Charley, Frances and Ivan really staggers the imagination. I guess Jeb is looking for votes his brother.
