Insurance Settlement...read this

We got our insurance settlement check a week ago and have some tips for those of you who hav not received yours yet. Your check may come made out to you and your mortgage company. You MUST get your mortgage company's endorsement prior to deposit. Also make sure that you endorse your check exactly as it is made out or your bank may not process it!! My wife's name on our mortgage, insurance policyand the check uses her first name but she commonly gos by her middle name. The signature card at our bank has her using her middle name but not her first name. We deposited the check last Friday and received immediate credit for it. On Tuesday AM I noticed in our on line banking statement that the deposit had been reversed. I called the bank to find out what had happened and was told that the "clearence center" had denied the endorsement and that the check would be returned to us. As of yesterday, Thursday, we still have not received the check. We were promised that we would get it in today's (Friday 10/29) mail. We then have to go to the bank, add her first name to the account and then deposit the check. We waited a month for the inspector, 3 weeks for the check and now another week due to this endorsement BS!!! Hopefully posting this will help some one else avoid this crap!!!
