Landfall Images

#1 Postby Droop12 » Tue Oct 19, 2004 4:09 pm

I was wondering if anyone has saved or can find any images of Ivan at landfall. I've only seen one color enhanced IR image so far. I would love to see a B/W infrared image or whatever ya'll might have, please post them. I appreciate it. Thanks

Oh, and has anyone seen any radar velocity images of Ivan at landfall? I know there not always accurate, but they can be reliable. Another question, what was Charleys max radar velocity at landfall? I've been pondering that all day. Thanks

IR: http://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/archdat/tropical_cyclones/tc04/ATL/09L.IVAN/ssmi/ir1km/20040916.0530.goes10.x.ir1km.09LIVAN.115kts-931mb-289N-882W.jpg

Visible, last one available before landfall:

You might want to hunt around in these directories, since they have the whole history of the storm. Worthwhile to navigate up a few of levels and look around - lots of interesting imagery at this site.

Wow, Ivan looked incredible just hours before landfall. But at landfall, he looked pathetic. What do you think happened??
