Did the Pensacola Beach Pier survive?
Used to love this pier at the center of Pensacola Beach. Did it survive Ivan?

I'm not sure if the pier survived IVAN, but I think these are websites about the Pensacola Pier:

If it is, WOW, What a LONG Pier!!!

It sure did. I saw video from it on the news and the only major damage was the railings at the end all were torn off and hundreds of the big wooden planks came up. Its designed to do that though to absorb the blow from the wave. It'll take some repair but it should be structurally sound from what I've heard.

The Pensacola Beach Pier is the one that is on the right side of the island, the only one on the right side. It did survive obviously but as stated in need of repair. When Camille came ashore in 1969 the then existing peir was destroyed and this newer one replaced it I believe.

There are lots more like that, especially on the West end of the island. During Camille, when I lived in Gulf Breeze, we were watching waves watch clear across the island, but not as bad as they obviously were during Ivan. Literally miles and miles of overwash that will indeed take months to clear.
This is the index I got the photo from. I covers a lot of the area. http://alt.ngs.noaa.gov/ivan/IVAN00.HTM
