I give it a 5 great coverage, and a lot of interesting information.
on the other hand to many in charge, and to many posts get edited, and or deleted.

I don't see how deletion and editing is even noticeable, especially editing. How can you tell which posts have actually been edited?

There are so many threads (which is another issue among some members) that noticing which posts have been altered or removed is difficult.

I give it a 10. S2K keeps me informed of what is going on in the tropics as I don't always watch TV or listen to the radio. S2K is the best! :D

I rated the site an 8. Information tops and was invaluable during the last 2 months. The only negatives are the recurring bickering matches. Probably no way to control that given the emotions involved with 4 major hits, but it would be nice if a few of the more aggressive non-professional "forecasters" could be more interested in information and less concerned with "being right". There were a number of times in the past weeks when it seemed that those well outside the strike areas were competing for accuracy awards while those of us swallowing hard and wondering if we were going to be next were simply looking/asking for meaningful information. The mods do a good (thankless) job but as with most things in life, personal responsibility is always an attractive quality.

10 - without a doubt. I get information here when I WANT it - and for a nervous nelly like myself, that is very important! During Ivan, I actually had my CAO and Human Resource Manager asking me for info I was obtaining here (in addition to what they were receiving from building management) to help them make decisions!

I'd love to see that! I see storm team in this sense I think Hurricane Track/HIRT.

And the reason we're growing by leaps and bounds is because of that atmosphere.;) For those who prefer an atmosphere of bickering, flaming and personal attacks, this isn't the place for them. But fortunately for those people, there are plenty of boards where respect is a foreign issue so they can have that kind of atmosphere if they want it. This is what separates us from the rest.

I deserve what ever I get so I'm not mad at storm2k at all. This is a good board. It also has great information...I don't know what I would do if it was not for it. I wake up every few hours to check it out. Thank you for the great weather board Chad and Mf...It has been great...

But still I can't help but to give it a 7 1/2 rating for now. :grrr: But maybe in a few weeks I will feel like given a 10!!!

After only 44 posts on this site and a limited time here, how can you make such a call? Not being argumentative, just curious. I tend to agree with Tom's statement about most of the modding of this site being unnoticeable unless one has had some of their postings dealt with. Everyone is supposed to read the rules when they register so no one can say they do not know what they are.

Seems a bit odd that I answer the pole, and put in a small note as to why I gave this a 5, and now I jumped on because I have made very few posts (because people on here find a reason to jump on every post) and now I get jumped on when I sort of explain that. Oh well... next time I say something, if ever. I'll be sure it's all happy words. just don't do a pole if you don't want to hear the truth.

Show me where I jumped on you!!!! I asked a simple question and made a comment. It appears I struck quite a nerve. Previous experience???

10! I've really learned alot from this site. Living in Florida you can kinda expect a hurricane every now and then, but for 3 of them to come through the same county, OMG! I never would have thought that would happen. Thanks to all the meteorologists and all the others of this site. :fantastic:

Hurricane Hollow rates a 10, the Politic Forum rates a 1. Since weather is the main point of the place, I weighted it that way and awarded an 8 overall.

I have no complaints with the board at all. The mod's DO go out of their way to cut out the foolishness and remove troll threads quickly. I long ago gave up watching t.v. met's as a source of reliable information and unfortunately the weather channel has dengerated itself into a show more than a source of information. Steve Lyons is NOT John Hope. If I have one complaint with the board it's the constant bickering with the NHC. They are BAR NONE the best at what they do. For reliable sources of information the NHC, Mike Watkins, Derek and the other forecasters on this board are the ones I pay attention to. This board really grew from an older one that at one time showed great promise but couldn't control the trolls. That problem has been solved in here and you all are superb at what you do. One suggestion though would be to update the main graphics on the home page a little quicker, realizing everyone is busy but there were some obvious mistakes this year that detract from the overall professional appearance. For that reason I gave you an "8" but when a storm is out there your usually a solid 9. A "9' only because I consider the NHC the only "10."

Here's a suggestion which isn't original but, actually, mentioned in some other thread by a Mod which I think is a good idea.

How about a forum where threads can only be generated by approved forecasters? Others would be allowed to post in those threads, but not originate new threads.

Like I said, not my idea, but when I read it, it sounded like a very good idea because so many people turn here when a storm potentially threatens them and, without knowing how much weight to give to the poster's analysis (which takes a good bit of time on this board to discern), "Joe Blow"'s opinion gets equal weight with, say, AFMet, WxMan57, MW, Ort, etc.

I thought that was the point of the special designations like "S2K Forecaster" and "Pro Met" that those users have.

I wouldn't like the idea of segregating the rest of us - I think that would make the place less interesting and useful than it is.
