My heart goes out to all of you along the Gulf Coast affected by Ivan.

All the current thinking is that Matthew will be more rain than anything. Perhaps 50mph winds.
I know it can blow tarps off but I don't think it will be anything more than just a bad rain event.

I, too, lost my home and my job

Wow! That stopped me in my tracks! I just can't imagine what that must be like. We've lived with that same, looming fear these past few weeks, knowing our livelihood, our investments, and our home would likely be destroyed if we ever went through a storm like you all went through. It's a frightening thought, but the reality of it actually happening is something I'm unable to place myself in.
I didn't just glance over what you wrote. It stopped me in my tracks, and my heart goes out to you. Both of you. I hope some positives appear in your situations in the near future, and that this season will soon become a respectful, fading memory for you.

Matthew is dead or dying. The main threat will be the copius rains and the flooding that will occur.

Well... this will be the first rain since Ivan right? I'd consider yourselves lucky... 3 weeks with no rain.

Even if the rain makes it ashore and farther north, we might get some more flooding rains. THis area was pounded by Frances and Ivan in 2 weeks time. Lots of people lost everything!
