This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Sigh :( They're probably waiting for more data before they make a call. The reading is probably from a squall that passed over the buoy would be my best guess.

I agree, Dixie is absolutely correct. If this thing causes some severe localized flooding and NHC was silent about that possibility, they'll get slammed. Big time. Their number one priority should be people's safety.

I agree. But if they make the wrong call they will get slammed even harder. They are the official source of hurricane advisories in the US so they better get everything just right. Look I understand your concern but you can see that this thing aint moving that much if at all looks stationary. We have time but it will eventually happen.

NHC has been saying for two days in its' discussions and outlooks that this system, whatever it becomes will be a big rainmaker for almost the entire N GOM coast. The problem as I see it would be if it develops into a strong TS quickly and winds become a problem before anyone is warned.

The Weather Channel stated that the buoy off of the Lafayette area had dropped 6mb.

Anyone know how far out this buoy off of the Lafayette area is? Also is it directly south of Lafayette?

I'm not sure about the buoys location but a 6 mb drop is fairly substancial, right? I would have never believed yesterday that we could be dealing with a tropical storm on Saturday (possibly).
