Thinking about the broadcast last night and thought wouldn't it be great if we as individuals could get sponsors for the site? (wish i knew some - but not working & don't get out alot) I'm sure there are some that are extremely resourceful here that could. And with the sponsorships would there be anyone that would want to form a storm2k team for tracking (chasing?) the storms? Think it would be really neat if storm2k had their own team!
Crazy idea? Let me know what you think, particularly those in charge!
And of course those that could help to make this a reality if storm2k thinks it would be a good idea.

That makes a lot of practical sense...Mark's team is already assembled...makes the up and running time short to none. Maybe the S2K graphic could be made up into a magnetic thingy that you stick on the sides of the car (truck/etc). Would make some good publicity for the site...and give the adrenaline junkies a chance to chase some storms and adrenaline. Seems like the only thing missing would be additional funding.....?

We did have an "official" Storm2k chaser, equipment and all who we were in the process of working with to at least get him logos for his vehicle, etc. However, family emergencies/problems have apparently put a stop to that scenario, at least for now. I have not been able to get in touch with him in several months. Unfortunately I have lost his phone numbers in my own house flood early this year. I will continue to try and get in touch with him to find out if he is still interested.
Past that, I think it would be a great idea to get a "team" together. However, there are a lot of things to consider. If we find someone with the proper equipment, how do we sponsor them? If we are doing our own, it gets much more complicated, with liability issues, megabucks needed for proper equipment and the people involved can not be just anyone, but would need some training and a very healthy respect for what these storms can do. That adrenaline rush turns to terrifying fear when you realize that really is a tornado you hear coming at you or you barely escape with your life when a roof almost takes your head off!! Even though chasing is definitely a rush, it is also VERY DANGEROUS and not to be done by just anyone.
Once again, I like the idea, and will do what I can do to help. One idea is to contact local media outlets, especially in the larger cities, and find out if they have or want chase teams. If they have one, them maybe we could join them and/or help sponsor them. If not then we might have to try and get one together or help them hook up with Mark and his group.

great vbhoutex! that is what I was thinking - if we could get a co. to sponsor storm2k or as jeny and i spoke of earlier - if not our own team , then find co.'s willing to co-sponsor Mark's team through storm2k along with those they already have, maybe. That would keep the liability from resting right on storm2k, i think, if we did it right.
