Here It Comes
We are going to get sooooo much rain in New Orleans between today and Sunday. This is going to be something. Anybody want to guess how much the totals will be when it's all said and done? I'm thinking around 10 inches. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/radar/loop/DS.p ... klix.shtml

It really depends on the eventual speed of movement and what we find ourselves under. As noted in a previous post, WWL was way off last night in their call for 3-5" in the region. I think 10+ between New Iberia and lower Lafouche Parishes is almost a foregone conclusion (some of the amounts are already piling up per the Lake Charles "Storm Total" link) found at:

There's really no way to predict what an exact point might get, but I think 7" is a reasonable roundabout estimate for the city. Some spots within a 100 mile radius might get 3", others might get 12" or more.
The NWS local has recognized the potential:
VERY HEAVY RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE WITH THESE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
AS WELL. CONDITIONS LEADING UP TO FRIDAY AND SATURDAY ARE BEING
MONITORED FOR EXCESSIVE RAINFALL POSSIBILITIES.

Gosh I hate tropical systems that just dump rain and rain and rain. I remember with Hurricane Irene in 1999 we sooo much rain from it. Ofcoarse its nothing compared to the massive flooding experienced in Houston from Tropical Storm Allison. Needless to say, heavy rain for long periods of time is always a big pain to deal with.

We had some pretty decent rain yesterday afternoon in the Houma-Thibodaux. It was pouring while I was in Houma last night. I am still in Houma at a friend's house, fixing to go to work, it is overcast. But did not rain yet. But we need the rain, so bring it on. The only downside is that I hate driving in it and getting out in it. I wish I did not have to work today and all weekend. I want to lie down, sleep all day, and hear the rain beating at the window. The rain always makes me sleepy.

Amen to that one Ricky!!! As much as we need rain in Houston, we do not need it all in 2 days and certainly not anything like an Allison redux!!!!!

>>Please-just keep the sorry rain out of Pensacola. Gosh-we don't need it. SOOOO many damaged roofs. It's not even funny.
You're going to get rain out of this, and maybe a lot of it.
>>I think the whole glob ice cream cone whatever you call it is moving due east. I looked at it this morning and now. Due east.
Some of the cloudtops are progressing "eastward" due to upper level winds, but go to Derek's site with the global IR and you can see that the circulation hasn't moved much at all.
