Still no reponse to the "anyone know when this will air" post ???
This sounds like damn fine entertainment..and I'll have you know that aside from the glass elevator scene in "The Towering Inferno", the elderly mountain woman having her legs eaten away by the sulfuric acid produced by Dante's Peak while pushing Peirce Brosnon in a canoe was quite possibly one of the finest cinematic moments ever captured on film...
Naysayers....
Bravo!

Oh man... I have to see this. I haven't seen really bad weather cinema since that POS tornado flick Dabney Coleman starred in a couple years back that showed up on Pax. What a turd...
-----
edit: not Coleman... it was Gerald McRaney. Eh, they kinda look the same.

I love Earth Science, but the following movies really make me angry:
Maximum Velocity (Grrrrrrr)
10.5 (Grrrrrrrr)
The Core (wtf?...the core stopped spinning?? Ooh! And the Earth is a gigantic Geode!!!!)
Dante's Peak (Grrrrrr)
Generally any Sci-Fi channel movie that deals with weather/geology (ie....Ice, Deep Core, etc.) Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........
10.5 was the classic train wreck -- as bad as it was, you just couldn't turn away. Invested two hours of my life in it, so I might as well stick around for Part 2. BTW, I did successfully predict that the two scientists would kiss before the end.
Ice was bad, but not nearly as bad as Inferno.

Actually, you're right ... Grace was analyzed on best track plots to have reached 100 MPH winds before becoming extratropical 6 hours later (85 MPH) ...
Code: Select all
Storm GRACE is number 7 of the year 1991

Was ice the one where there was a sunspot and the world froze? if so, yes it was pretty dumb. Was Inferno the one where there was a solar flare and the country baked? if so, that was stupid too. 10.5 was sooooo dumb. Didnt see the 500mph cane one tho. I thought Dante's Peak was a good movie and I also liked Volcano. The Core blew as well.

Right on both. Interesting how similar phenomena can have opposite effects. I must have skipped class that day.
Found a good review on Ice right here: http://www.reelcriticism.com/ziggyrealm ... s/ice.html

wrong wrong wrong
Well if you watched the whole movie you would have known that you are incorrect in saying that the two people parachuted into antartic. Go check your facts on the movie again they pulled the hurricane north into cooler waters. They were in Greenland. To prove my point why would there be a Russian weather station be in antartica?

I can't debate you on the movie, BUT there are several Russian weather stations on Antarctica ... Vostok is probably the most well-known since it holds the world's lowest recorded temperature at -126.9ºF

Acting was bad, story was bad, characters were bad!
Oh, good eye. Forgot about that one. She was also in Earthquake in New York, which wasn't bad for a made-for-TV network movie of the week. Don't blame the actors, though -- they have nothing to work with. You have to wonder what they are thinking as they stumble through these asinine scripts.
Speaking of which, that McRaney turkey I mentioned earlier was called Tornado Warning. Two hours of my life I'll never get back. I mean, there's decent cheesy sci-fi, and then there's the out-of-work-actor-shows-up-at-the-studio-with-nothing-better-to-do movie. Except for a couple of ball games, I think that might be the only thing I've ever watched on Pax.
