Tornado hit our town last night

It was small (F-0) but made quite a mess.
Our pool is full of leaves and debris - and our patio umbrella broke in half.
Thankfully, it does not look like anyone was hurt.

I drove through area and other than trees, I did not see much property damage.

Yes, thank goodness, the property damage seemed to be limited to the bank and the dairy queen.

My neighborhood Rustic Oaks and Countryside South just inside League City on 518 and Bay Area was hit with marble size hail and 80MPH winds.
We were without power for 6 hours last night. Tree and fences down.
Trees were stripped of many leaves along 518 into Friendswood

Too close for comfort. I am just down the road from you in Brittany Lakes. We were w/out power from 5 - 8 PM. We didn't have any damage, but it was very windy and almost constant lightning for a while. Glad everyone is ok and not a lot of serious damage.

Way too close for comfort. Two people here at work had damage.

It seemed funky out yesterday after the gym...I knew something was up.

Nasty weird weather the last couple of nights. Sunday night, I went out to the store briefly, and there was awful flashes of lightning, but only a few drops of rain. Large red splotch on the radar that disappeared into no where.

Last night, lots of wind - gusts into the 30 mph range up here. loud thunder and some power flashes (thankfully, it didn't go out) and some heavy rain.

Guess who left her window open last night. :roll:

I was trying to allow an errant GECKO to escape my car, and that's the thanks I get?!?

Glad to hear everyone is ok! on a side note to houstania..don't they say animals know when bad weather is approaching? Maybe your friend was hiding out in your car!! LOL!

I drove through the area in Friendswood to help out my parents. They lost a fence and had hail damage. This was more of a micro burst or straight line type wind damage than a F0. Im not sure how the NWS decided it was a F0 because there was no way to spot it being hail/ rain wrapped as it was. It did do some damage. Alot of property damage in the Forest of Friendswood section.......

F5? ^ no thanks! Makes me queasy thinking about that. Unless you are underground or in a cement safe room your only way to live is to get in your car and drive out of the F5 path.

We had one of what was called a microburst/downdraft/straight line wind event here last year. 80 mph wind and hail ... damage that I saw at the time was at least 8 miles long by 3 miles wide. Awfully big for a microburst. 98% of the roofs in our neighborhood were damaged enough to need replacing, fences and trees were blown over and scarred and I saw a row of telephone poles snapped all at the same height. And we were lucky - our neighborhood mostly has small trees that didn't blow over like the neighborhoods w/ old trees. 40,000 households lost power...

My guess is they surveyed the damage patterns to make the determination. Winds to 80 mph were measured also, so there was probably both types of damage.

On the SW side of town (Richmond,TX) we got pea size hail, lots of wind and violent lightening....*shiver*. I was just happy my 16 year old driver decided NOT to go to Needville for riding lessons that evening....

I'm sorry folks but I'll take hurricanes ANY day over these tornados that seem to come out of nowhere! :eek:

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't like it when unexpected guests suddenly show up at my front (or back, or side) door!
