I do remember Ivan prior to moving into the Carib. However, GFS may have been correct for the wrong reason. It depicted Ivan as an open wave (which, due to Ivan's very small size at that time, may just be due to data resolution issues, not a model flaw itself). I have to admit, I did use the GFS for Ivan #1 (before the Carib), but did not use it for Ivan #2 and #3 (Carib and GOM)

The bottom line is that we don't have access to every single forecast model.

The WFTV anchors finally pinned him down in the middle of Jeanne this weekend during his marathon broadcast and said, "You have the same models and information as everyone else, so how are you so successful predicting these things?"

He answered "I only have access to the same info as everyone else, but I also depend on my 25 years living here and studying these storms all my life for added input."

The same information Tom Terry has access to is the same that is fellow meteorologist in Orlando and all across the country have.

He mentions from time to time that there are 20 something different models. I only know of half that we see on a daily basis on the internet.

Personally, I think Tom Terry is a little overrated. He got lucky with Charley and he has gotten quite cocky ever since. I can't stand to watch him, and he usually starts or ends every statement with "I hate to tell you folks, but.." He's a little too dramatic.

I think ALL models should be dropped in favor for the "Derek Ortt Model," 'cause IIRC, Derek has just about nailed all four of these monster storms, and several days before anyone else! The NHC 5-day model is highly unreliable, yet I know for certain that Derek was spot on for both Ivan AND Jeanne, and I think it was the same for Charley and Frances.

EDIT: I shouldn't have said "highly unreliable" but instead "often unreliable."

The same can be said with being "too undramatic"... like Tom Sorrells. I rather watch meteorologists who are "average" to "dramatic."

I'd take Tom Sorrells over TT ANY day of the week! My favorite is Dave Marsh, since he's been doing channel 2 weather since I was 6 years old, but he's hardly on any more. Instead, they have that new guy that I don't like all that much and the pregnant chick. Therefore, I stick with Sorrells and check occasionally to see if Dave is on.

I like Dave Marsh, too. He is on every night... beings that he is NewsChannel 2's Chief Meteorologist. Mike O'Lenick is usually on with him.

Both Leslie Hudson and Amy Sweezy are/were pregnant. Their due dates were either the same day or a day apart, a week and a half ago.

The "new guy" I believe is filling in while Leslie and Amy are on maternity leave. There was another on during Frances.

Marty Stebbins (who I personally didn't see; my mother did) was actually on during Hurricane Jeanne coverage. He was let go, but assume
he has been on Magic 107.7.
